IT Architect Intern
About The Position
This is a fully onsite internship designed for hands‑on learning, close mentorship, and day‑to‑day collaboration with your IT team. Our IT team partners directly with the business to solve real problems across operations, supply chain, sales, and corporate functions. Our internship program is a real, hands‑on experience—not just a résumé booster. Interns work onsite with experienced professionals, contribute to meaningful projects, and see how technology decisions impact the business. Many of our interns return to Kimball Midwest as full‑time associates after graduation. We invest in your learning, mentorship, and growth—during the summer and beyond WHY THIS ROLE This internship is ideal for students who enjoy big‑picture thinking and want to understand how applications, data, infrastructure, and security fit together. You’ll work alongside experienced IT architects and contribute to a real design project from concept through proof‑of‑concept.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Computer Science or a related field
- Strong foundation in core computer science concepts (data structures, OOP, networking, etc.)
- Interest in systems design and enterprise technology
Responsibilities
- Learn and apply core IT architecture concepts used in an enterprise environment
- Support the design of IT solutions that align with business needs and technology standards
- Create architecture and project artifacts such as diagrams, documentation, and user stories
- Collaborate with architects, scrum teams, and IT leaders
- Participate in project meetings and provide regular status updates
- Help create documentation and training materials for technical and non‑technical audiences
