Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent in computer science, information systems, mathematics, engineering or other related field and two years of experience, education, or training in coding computer applications; programming experience can be substituted for education on a year for year basis.
  • Knowledge of: software development principles and methods; principles and processed involved in business and organizational planning, coordination and execution; design techniques, principles, tools and instruments; instructional methods and training techniques; principles, methods and procedures for designing, developing, optimizing and integrating new and/or reusable systems components; principles and processes for providing customer service; software system testing procedures, programming and documentation; infrastructure requirements; system analysis; logical/physical database design; database management principles and methodologies.
  • Skill in: analyzing needs and product requirements to create a design; applying systems engineering concepts and factors; using basic math to solve problems; writing computer programs for various purposes; information gathering; troubleshooting; active listening, communicating effectively; active learning; reading comprehension; weighing the relative costs and benefits of a potential action; platform selection; idea evaluation; identification of key causes; visioning; writing, debugging and maintaining code; integrating hardware/software components; determining output media/formats.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for new development or maintenance of software development projects, and daily consulting with business analysts and clients within the Nebraska Public Employees Retirement Systems, while mentoring other developers.
  • This particularly includes working on the Nebraska Public Retirement Information System (NPRIS).
  • Utilize application development tools effectively which may include IBM RAD IDE, Code repositories, SQL Server, SQL Server Reporting Services, OnBase ECM and Microsoft Azure.
  • The person in this Senior Position will be responsible for designing, coding, debugging, testing, and documenting programs.
  • Perform the functional and technical design and implementation in a large-scale IT environment with limited supervision.
  • Participate in the full range of software product development activities, including requirements gathering, analysis and definition, coding and testing, and production support with limited supervision.
  • This position conducts application and database testing at multiple levels including Development and UAT (User Acceptance Testing).
  • Coordinates testing efforts with clients as well as other team functions such as Release Management, Infrastructure and Architecture Support, Application Support, and Change Management.
  • Executes complex data-driven testing.
  • This position coordinate software releases. This includes documenting changes and recording the status of work items in Microsoft Azure as software changes are promoted from development environments to user acceptance testing and production.
