About The Position

Northeast Missouri Electric Power Cooperative (Northeast Power) has an opening for an IT & Communications at the Palmyra, Missouri, location. Northeast Power is a transmission cooperative delivering power to northeast Missouri and southeast Iowa. This is a paid summer internship starting in May 2026 and ending in August 2026. The standard work schedule follows a 4-day, 10-hour shift, Monday through Thursday. Some flexibility in workdays and hours may be required based on project needs and assignments. This internship provides hands-on experience supporting network and communications systems within a utility environment. The intern will assist with equipment installation, system updates and inventory management while learning from technical staff.

Requirements

  • Pursuing or recently completed a degree in Information Technology, Networking, Telecommunications, or a related field.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a technical environment.
  • Highly proficient with personal computers and associated applications.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the installation, configuration and testing of new network and communications equipment.
  • Perform updates, audits and maintenance within fiber management software to ensure data accuracy and network integrity.
  • Manage and track inventory, including equipment issuance, returns and documentation of assets.
  • Collaborate with technical staff to document procedures, update diagrams and maintain system records.
