About The Position

The Piping Superintendent is responsible for supervising and directing operations within the piping discipline. Supervises and directs piping craft professionals, subordinate supervisors, and others, as assigned. Ensures assigned construction performance is following specifications and within schedules and budgets. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule if required, including, but not limited to nightshift, split shift, or day shift. #LI-TH1

Requirements

• Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8 -10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience

Responsibilities

• Supervises and/or directs craft activities as assigned.
• Schedules work to be performed and reviews work accomplished by each craft.
• Determines workforce requirements.
• Coordinates established area operational plans.
• Monitors tool and equipment usage on the site.
• Oversees the preparation of Field Material Requisitions for tools and consumables and ensures that the crafts have the tools they require to be productive.
• Ensures the most current design document is used to complete the work and that all design changes are approved prior to implementation.
• Ensures assigned construction operations and subcontractors' performance are in compliance with specifications and within schedules and budgets.
• Works with Construction Field Engineers, Foremen, and Craft Professionals, in interpreting Engineering design documents, vendor documents, and other technical documents
• Oversees engineering solutions with Subcontractors, and Foremen and Craft Professionals.
• Provide ES&H leadership to personnel assigned to the piping department. This includes preparation and implementation of safety procedures and leading Bechtel and subcontractor safety meetings.
• Inspect site for unsafe conditions and practices and take appropriate corrective action to correct breaches.
• Coordinate safety training and enforce safe work practices at all times in conjunction with the Environmental Safety and Health Supervisor.
• Champion the cause of ZERO Accident Philosophy. Ensure that Bechtel and local/national safety codes, requirements and standards are being complied with within assigned area of responsibility.
• Monitor the activities of craft to ensure compliance with specifications and schedules. Responsible for the cost, schedule and optimization of craft labor and maintaining the 90 day and 3 week look ahead schedules for labor and equipment.
• Interface with Industrial Relations for craft recruitment and training programs. Review craft time records using established automated tools. Review and approve subcontractor equipment/personnel mobilization and demobilization. Responsible for implementing corporate project policies, procedures, and instructions within assigned electrical operations.
• Coordinate with the General Foreman to hire piping craft labor to execute work. Coordinate established area operational plans.
• Provide input to quantity tracking applications and report weekly installed quantities to Project Controls.
• Prepare material requisitions for tools and consumables and coordinate through Procurement to obtain these materials.
• Assist in performing construction testing as required.
• Prepare reports and forecasts, including summary of construction progress, craft personnel forecasts, and expenditures forecasts.
• Plan the manpower and equipment required to execute the job. Perform employee reviews and identify training and development opportunities for subordinate electrical personnel.
• Perform other duties as required by Bechtel management.
