About The Position

A Golf Course Irrigation Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of irrigation systems on golf courses. This role involves ensuring that the turf and landscaping receive adequate water to maintain optimal health and appearance. The technician works closely with the golf course superintendent and groundskeeping staff to monitor and adjust irrigation schedules based on weather conditions and seasonal needs.

  • Knowledge of Regulations: Familiarity with local and federal water usage regulations and conservation practices.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Additional certification or coursework in irrigation technology or turf management is preferred.
  • Experience: Previous experience in irrigation system installation, maintenance, and repair. Experience working on golf courses or similar environments is highly desirable.
  • Licenses: Valid driver's license required.

  • Certification in irrigation technology or related field is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Installation: Set up and install new irrigation systems, including sprinklers, pipes, and controllers. Ensure proper coverage and functionality.
  • Maintenance: Regularly inspect and maintain existing irrigation systems. Perform routine checks to identify and resolve leaks, clogs, or malfunctions.
  • Repairs: Diagnose problems and make necessary repairs to irrigation components. This includes fixing broken pipes, replacing faulty sprinklers, and troubleshooting electrical issues.
  • Monitoring: Continuously monitor the performance of the irrigation system. Adjust settings and schedules to optimize water usage and ensure the turf receives adequate hydration.
  • Coordination: Collaborate with the golf course superintendent and groundskeeping team to align irrigation practices with overall course maintenance plans.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of irrigation activities, including repairs, maintenance schedules, and water usage.
  • Regulation Compliance: Ensure all irrigation practices comply with local and federal water usage regulations. Implement conservation measures as needed.
  • Equipment Management: Oversee the inventory and proper storage of irrigation equipment and supplies. Order replacements and new materials as required.
