About The Position

The Irrigation Service Technician is responsible for the seasonal startup, routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and winterization of residential and commercial irrigation systems. This role ensures all irrigation systems operate efficiently, are properly programmed, and are maintained to company quality standards. The Technician represents the company on client properties, maintaining professionalism, clear communication, and high service standards at all times.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, preferred
  • Prior irrigation system experience, preferred.
  • Knowledge of irrigation system components, controllers, and basic troubleshooting techniques preferred.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot system issues.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a daily service route efficiently.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physically demanding outdoor work.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying Michigan weather conditions, including heat, humidity, and cold temperatures.
  • Possess and maintain a valid Michigan Driver’s License with clean driving record.
  • CDL with class C endorsement, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform spring irrigation system startups, including valve activation, zone testing, programming controllers, and system adjustments.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and inspections, including checking for leaks, broken heads, clogged nozzles, and proper system coverage.
  • Diagnose and repair irrigation components such as valves, sprinklers, pipes, controllers, and pumps.
  • Perform fall winterizations, including system blowouts, drain procedures, and controller shutdowns to protect systems from freeze damage.
  • Maintain accurate service records, including work performed, parts used, and system observations.
  • Load, unload, and transport tools, equipment, and parts safely between job sites.
  • Communicate clearly with clients regarding system performance, maintenance needs, and seasonal recommendations.
  • Maintain a clean and organized service vehicle and uphold a professional appearance on client properties.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including proper handling of tools and equipment, and wear required PPE.
  • Other duties as assigned.
