Investment Strategy Analyst
About The Position
Are you ready to take the next step in your investment career? AE Wealth is looking for an Investment Strategy Analyst to join our growing Investment Team. In this role, you'll gain hands-on experience managing and executing sophisticated investment strategies - including direct indexing and tax-managed portfolios - that help thousands of clients pursue their financial goals. You'll collaborate closely with our Director, VPs, and advisors to support the daily operations of AE Wealth's investment strategies. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys analytical work, has a passion for the markets, and is eager to learn the intricacies of portfolio management in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. This position is based in our Lenexa, KS office and is exclusively onsite. Please note that the company does not extend sponsorship opportunities.
Requirements
- 1-2 years of experience in financial services, investment operations, or portfolio management.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to execute tasks with precision and accuracy.
- Solid understanding of investment concepts, products, and portfolio mechanics.
- Analytical mindset with strong Excel skills; familiarity with OMS or portfolio management systems preferred.
- Excellent communication skills and a team-first attitude.
- Enthusiasm for learning and growing in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, business, or a related field.
- Completion of the SIE exam, or Series 7, 66 (or 63/65) licenses.
- Willingness to acquire CFA, CMT, or similar designation.
- Experience with trade execution (equities and/or ETFs).
- Familiarity with listed index options and tax-efficient investment strategies.
Responsibilities
- Support the daily management of tax-managed SMAs, including portfolio optimization, tax-loss harvesting, and trade execution.
- Develop a strong understanding of AE Direct and Strategic Index solutions, including their design, purpose, and trading methodology.
- Partner with VPs and senior analysts on discovery calls to evaluate client suitability for direct indexing strategies.
- Prepare trade proposals and recommendations for advisors and internal teams, ensuring they align with client objectives.
- Execute approved trades within AE Wealth's Order Management System (OMS) with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Monitor portfolios to ensure trading stays within firm parameters, escalating issues when appropriate.
- Assist in monitoring model portfolios to confirm adherence to tracking error and risk guidelines.
- Compile and analyze monthly data for AEWM Strategic Index models, AE Direct models, and AE Direct Flex accounts.
- Participate in meetings with internal teams and external partners to support ongoing investment initiatives.
- Assist in the development of reporting packages for the sales team and capital markets meetings.
