About The Position

Founded in 1911, Bessemer Securities Corporation (BSC) is a private family investment company (also called a “family office”) owned by descendants, and trusts for the benefit of the descendants, of Henry Phipps. The Company, which is composed of approximately 25 professionals working in finance, operations, legal and Bessemer Investors, engages in a variety of investment activities and maintains a diverse portfolio. Bessemer Trust, a leading multifamily office with a shared history, provides office facilities, banking and business services to our Company, including information technology and human resources support. Bessemer Securities Corporation is seeking an Investment Operations Manager to support the buildout of the BSC Operations team and advance the organization's technology roadmap. In the initial phase, the Investment Operations Manager will partner with the Head of Operations and other key stakeholders to implement new core systems and design workflows that enhance BSC's operational infrastructure. Following the successful implementation of these systems, the Operations Manager will oversee daily investment accounting activities and be responsible for the sign-off of monthly performance returns within BSC's data aggregation and reporting platform. The role will also support data management and governance initiatives across BSC's systems and data warehouse to ensure the accuracy and consistency of information. The Operations Manager will work closely with key stakeholders across the Bessemer Group, including Accounting, Finance, Investments, Legal, and Technology to ensure seamless integration and alignment with the firm's objectives. Additionally, the role will include meaningful interactions with General Partner relationships to ensure timely and accurate reporting, among other interactions.

Requirements

  • Minimum 7 Years of relevant experience within Financial Services industry
  • Proven experience supporting daily investment accounting of alternative investments (Private Equity, Hedge Funds, and other LP investment vehicles)
  • Experience working in a family office, multi-family office, RIA, or fund administrator
  • Understanding of data governance framework
  • Prior history supporting systems implementation and change management projects
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across functional teams
  • Degrees with concentrations in Accounting, Finance, and/or Business Administration preferred

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred experience working with private investment document extraction systems such as Arch and Canoe
  • Investment Operations​ knowledge of a performance reporting system is a plus, i.e. Addepar, Black Diamond, Advent, Clearwater, among others

Responsibilities

  • Oversee accurate investment performance returns by capturing, validating, and reconciling all capital calls, distributions, valuations, fees, and other transaction activity across BSC Private Investments
  • Partner with Controllership team to support the timely and accurate accounting period close process across BSC entities
  • Manage and respond to ad hoc data and reporting requests from the investment team and other BSC stakeholders
  • Coordinate with custodians, fund administrators, and internal accounting teams to reconcile investment data within investment accounting system
  • Serve as the data steward across BSC investment systems and data warehouse, ensuring data integrity, consistency, and accuracy across positions and security masters
  • In collaboration with the Bessemer Trust Data Governance Team, implement governance controls to proactively spot data outages and variances across investment positions and cash balances to mitigate operational risks
  • Partner with the Head of Operations and Technology teams to execute the technology roadmap, ensuring alignment with evolving business needs.
  • Institute continuous improvement methodologies to optimize processes, reduce complexity, and maintain agility in adopting to evolving business needs.
  • Identify, develop, and implement process improvements to enhance key operational and financial processes.
  • Work alongside investment team and legal counsel to onboard new private investments within portfolio
  • Oversee the capture of statements and other GP reporting deliverables from third-party portals and emails
