About The Position

This position is responsible for the day-to-day duties required to manage portfolio performance and treasury functions and to drive continuous improvement that expands the operational quality, efficiency, and capacity of operations responsibilities. Essential to the role is a comprehensive understanding of the Foundation’s investment strategy so that operations can support effective, efficient, and informed decision-making. The Investment Operations Manager reports directly to the Chief Risk and Operations Officer.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree strongly preferred. CPA or CFA is a plus. but not required.
  • Strong interest in investment management or equivalent work experience.
  • Five years of relevant work and management experience.
  • Three years’ experience in a leadership role with direct reports.
  • Strong supervisory, interpersonal, communication, analytical and writing skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to exceptional quality and high ethical standards.
  • Strong analytical skills and a demonstrated ability to incorporate meticulous qualitative and quantitative analyses.
  • Advanced computer literacy, demonstrated expertise in computer modeling and analytical techniques, and proficiency with Windows-based spreadsheet software.
  • Familiar with application of accounting standards related to investments.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Team oriented and willing to support and contribute to a cohesive culture which encourages communication, collaboration, and high performance.
  • Sound judgment and initiative, including the ability to manage multiple complex projects.
  • Comfortable working with people from diverse cultures and shows an appreciation for the value that those differences bring into an organization.

Responsibilities

  • Assists the Chief Risk and Operations Officer in developing and implementing an efficient, sustainable workforce plan to optimize team structure and operations.
  • Oversees and maintains productive relationships with third party service providers, ensuring service quality and contract compliance.
  • Develops and manages internal processes to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of financial data recorded in both the Foundation’s custodial and departmental systems.
  • Assists with review and approval of investment-related cash flow activities, including invoicing, capital calls, derivative settlements, and margin transactions.
  • Contributes to the production of quarterly performance reports, continuously researching the latest advances, tools, and best practices in the field.
  • Assists with onboarding new investments and the termination of closed funds.
  • Maintains systems and processes that adhere to industry regulatory requirements and strong internal controls.
  • Works closely with the Finance Department during the annual audit, overseeing the process for the Endowment portfolio’s portion of the audit and preparing investment-related materials necessary for the production of financial statements and tax filings.
  • Assists in preparing materials for Investment Committee meetings.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to operationalizing Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) within the Foundation by actively participating in taskforces, working groups, dialogues, and championing the investment team’s DEI efforts both internally and externally.
  • Demonstrates a strong commitment to the Foundation's vision and values in all interactions with staff, trustees and external stakeholders.

  • Performs other duties as assigned to support the overall effectiveness of the Operation’s function.
