About The Position

J.P. Morgan Wealth Management Investment Solutions (“WMIS”) provides Wealth Management clients with investment management solutions across all major asset classes including equities, fixed income, alternatives, multi-asset and money market funds. Primary Function: We seek a talented, energetic, hands-on, and highly motivated individual to join our team as an Associate in multi- and single-asset investment research, based in New York, as part of the Investment Director Team (“IDT”) within the WMIS Investment & Research Team (“IRT”). The IDT is responsible for conducting ongoing due diligence and collaborating closely with internal portfolio management teams within WMIS, as well as underwriting and onboarding newly developed investment strategies. The team reviews strategic, tactical, and security-level decisions across traditional, multi-asset, and alternative asset portfolios, and advises on best practices. The broader IRT fosters a highly collaborative environment across teams and regions. In addition to investment due diligence, the IRT manages governance, operational due diligence, and research and technology initiatives for Wealth Management discretionary assets.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; CFA charter holder or candidate strongly preferred
  • 2–4 years of investment industry experience with a strong quantitative skillset and an insatiable appetite to deepen expertise
  • Exceptional proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint. Experience with programming languages such as Python, SQL, etc.
  • Solid knowledge of the funds of funds business and enthusiasm for multi-asset portfolio construction and risk management practices
  • Deep understanding of fixed income, equity, and alternative asset classes
  • Background in portfolio management, research generation, or investment due diligence of multi-asset class portfolios
  • Ability to perform detailed and sophisticated statistical analysis across various investment strategies and styles
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to clearly and concisely develop and deliver findings and recommendations
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative, global team environment and balance competing priorities with a “no task too small” mindset
  • Demonstrated intellectual curiosity, eagerness to grow, and coachability
  • Critical thinking skills with the ability to work through problems, develop creative solutions, and execute projects to completion
  • Exceptionally strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize while maintaining attention to detail
  • Demonstrated initiative, energy, and confidence in completing assignments with limited supervision
  • Excellent team player with the ability to interact effectively with business partners at all levels, showcasing humility, curiosity, and ownership
  • Series 7 & 63/66 license-holder, or willingness to obtain the certifications within a reasonable timeframe after hire

Responsibilities

  • Conduct investment due diligence on multi- and single-asset class portfolio management teams within WMIS and its affiliates
  • Evaluate portfolio risk characteristics and performance drivers to assess portfolio managers’ strengths and weaknesses, and provide data-driven recommendations
  • Identify and propose investment process improvements, collaborating with portfolio management teams to implement enhancements
  • Advise on the development of innovative investment products and support their launch through close collaboration with WMIS partners, including Product Development, Risk Management, Operational Due Diligence, Governance, Quantitative Research, and Legal & Compliance
  • Communicate findings and recommendations effectively to senior business leaders
  • Monitor financial markets to understand current drivers and sentiment at both the asset class and sub-asset class levels
  • Prepare and present materials for governance committee meetings, working with key stakeholders and addressing follow-ups promptly
  • Create and distribute periodic business-as-usual (“BAU”) reports
  • Proactively support teammates and other partners – take on ad hoc research, operational tasks, and challenge assumptions constructively
