Samsung Catalyst Fund (SCF) is Samsung Electronics’ multi-stage, evergreen venture capital fund, specializing in deep-tech AI infrastructure, with a particular focus on semiconductor technologies. Their investment interests span various domains including data center and cloud, AI, networking and interconnect, automotive, and frontier tech like quantum computing. SCF actively invests in North America, Israel, and Europe, and is an integral part of the Samsung Semiconductor Innovation Center (SSIC). Recognized among the top corporate venture capital firms globally, SCF has made nearly 80 investments to date, with successful exits including companies like Groq, Habana Labs, Celestial AI, XConn, Credo, and IonQ. The fund is stage-agnostic, capable of leading, co-leading, or following investments, and offers term sheets comparable to other financial VCs. Following initial investments, SCF leverages its connections with Samsung business units to facilitate partnerships with its portfolio companies, aiming to collaborate closely with entrepreneurs and disruptive ideas to create incremental value and foster mutual growth.

Requirements

10+ years of experience in tech, venture or investment banking, including 5+ Years of venture capital or corporate venture capital experience, with track record of sourcing and closing financing rounds and ability to drive and engage multiple investment opportunities
Strong and current network of top tier VCs and CVCs in the US
Excellent track record of academic achievement
Enthusiastic, hard-working, self-driven, self-confident with low ego and intellectually curious
Familiarity and knowledge of emerging technologies with an innate passion for technology, particularly semiconductor-related
Analytical, ability to analyze and develop complex business models
An eye for detail as well as the ability to grasp big picture themes
Demonstrates leadership, poise, and maturity with senior executives and entrepreneurs
Team player and good communicator with strong presentation and written skills; able to address business and technical audiences

Responsibilities

Identify, source and potentially lead relevant investments independently
Provide analytical horsepower to conduct due diligence, including technical, business and industry analysis, competitive landscape and financial modeling
Lead or actively support deal negotiation and execution
Lead or contribute to the development of new investment thesis
Interact with portfolio companies and Samsung business units locally or overseas to create win-win business opportunities
Build relationships with entrepreneurs and monitor startups in strategic areas relevant to Samsung
Participate as a Board member or observer in applicable portfolio companies
