About The Position

The purpose of this Vice President role within the Investment Banking Sustainable Banking Group at Barclays is to raise capital and manage the financial risk of clients, including providing financial advisory services, identifying and originating market opportunities, conducting research, and performing economic analysis. This is a senior execution and advisory position, supporting the origination and delivery of investment banking transactions with a focus on sustainability, ESG, climate transition, and impact-driven strategies. The role involves supporting deal execution, advising clients on structuring sustainability-linked transactions, and integrating ESG considerations into M&A, capital raising, and strategic advisory mandates. It requires a blend of corporate finance, capital markets, and sustainability experience, along with strong technical skills, transaction guidance, and client-facing capabilities.

Requirements

  • Experience in sustainability-focused banking, with a clear understanding of ESG and energy transition priorities
  • Relevant banking licenses with the capability to advise on a broad range of banking activities
  • Experience with banking products and transaction types, including advisory and financing solutions
  • Confirmed client-facing professional, comfortable engaging senior stakeholders and supporting discussions

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with corporate, financial, and institutional clients to understand their financing needs and objectives.
  • Develop and maintain complex financial models to assess the value of assets, companies, or securities and identify appropriate structuring of capital raising initiatives (e.g., equity financing via IPOs, investment grade debt underwriting, leveraged financing solutions, derivative hedging solutions).
  • Collaborate with Coverage, M&A, Syndicate, Global Markets, and cross-functional teams to ensure successful origination, company due diligence, and execution of capital market transactions.
  • Identify, assess, and manage risks associated with capital markets transactions and develop risk mitigation strategies in alignment with regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct research, financial data analysis, and continuously develop market insights and investment recommendations.
  • Contribute to or set strategy, drive requirements, and make recommendations for change.
  • Plan resources, budgets, and policies; manage and maintain policies/processes; deliver continuous improvements and escalate breaches.
  • Define jobs and responsibilities, plan for department’s future needs and operations, counsel employees on performance, and contribute to employee pay decisions/changes (if managing a team).
