The Role Our client seeks an Experienced Associate to join their Transportation & Logistics Group in Richmond, VA. As an Associate, you will play a central role in driving deal execution forward, partnering closely with Analysts while maintaining meaningful exposure to senior bankers and clients. This position offers substantial responsibility from day one. You will lead analytical workstreams, oversee junior team members, and contribute directly to live deal execution and new business development. The role demands both strong quantitative skills and the ability to translate complex analysis into compelling, market-ready insights. Please note: Our client will not provide sponsorship for employment visas or participate in STEM OPT for this position. Candidates must have current authorization to work in the United States.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in investment banking, corporate finance, or private equity
  • 1+ year as a sell-side M&A Associate strongly preferred
  • Proven ability to manage complex financial analyses and valuation methodologies
  • Strong project management and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred
  • Willingness to travel up to 20% of the time
  • Must obtain FINRA licensing (SIE Exam, Series 79, and Series 63) within 90 days of hire

Responsibilities

  • Drive analytical workstreams in support of live M&A deal execution
  • Perform and synthesize complex financial modeling and valuation analyses
  • Identify trends in data and maturely articulate their impact to internal and external stakeholders
  • Manage client communications and contribute to deliverables in partnership with senior bankers
  • Oversee and partner with Analysts, balancing delegation with a collaborative approach
  • Ensure effective use of junior banker time while maintaining high standards of work product
  • Deliver real-time performance feedback to Analysts
  • Lead by example through delivering accurate, thoughtful work product
  • Support new business development efforts and contribute to pitch materials
  • Participate in recruiting, junior banker training programs, and summer internship initiatives
  • Engage in firm-wide marketing, diversity, and community outreach efforts
