The New York City Department of Correction (DOC) is an integral part of the City’s evolving criminal justice system, participating in reform initiatives and strategies aimed to move the City towards a smaller jail system without compromising public safety. The DOC is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for our employees, visitors, volunteers and people in our custody. Importantly, safe jails enable DOC to provide people in custody with the tools and opportunities they need to successfully re-enter their communities. The DOC operates facilities and court commands across the five boroughs with more than 7,500 diverse professionals and knowledgeable experts. The Department of Correction (DOC) is seeking a highly skilled intern to join the Investigation Division, which is responsible for overseeing all Use of Force incidents within the agency. This role is critical in ensuring compliance with established Directives and preparing administrative charges when warranted. The internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in law enforcement investigations, allowing the intern to develop essential skills in evidence analysis and administrative procedures. The Investigation Division conducts thorough and unbiased investigations in a timely manner, adhering to court-imposed mandates. Interns will collaborate with investigative teams on administrative actions related to assigned cases, contributing to reports and supporting the overall mission of the division.
