About The Position

The Labor Department is responsible for the statewide enforcement of the Wage Claim, Youth Employment, Minimum Wage, Earned Paid Sick Time, Retaliation and Payment Compliance programs. This position may offer the ability to work remotely within Arizona, based on the department’s business needs and continued satisfactory performance. The position is hybrid and will require you to come into the office at least twice a week, or as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Arizona administrative practices and procedures and personnel rules and requirements is preferred.
  • Wage claim, minimum wage, earned paid sick time, retaliation, payment compliance and youth labor statutes, rules and investigation processes as well as the provisions of federal Fair Labor Standards Act.
  • ICA and Labor Department's purpose, goals, policies, procedures, and practices, is preferred.
  • Sources for information and evidence relevant to specialized and complex labor related enforcement issues.
  • Microsoft office and Google programs.
  • The ideal candidate will have investigative and caseload management skills, knowledge of Labor Department programs and the FLSA, as well as prior supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees daily operations of the Labor Division Investigations Unit, supervising staff, assigning and reviewing casework, and ensuring compliance with labor laws and procedures.
  • Provides guidance, resolves issues, and responds to public and claimant inquiries.
  • Leads team meetings, evaluations, and process improvements, while supporting policy decisions and serving as Acting Director when needed.
