About The Position

The Investigation Specialist is a Loss Prevention team member who uses standardized processes to protect the assets of Oregon Beverage Recycling Cooperative. The Investigation Specialist is expected to conduct regular patrols of their assigned facility, investigate and resolve external loss causing events identified through exception-based reporting, and assist the organization in the execution of loss prevention objectives and priorities.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED is required
  • Must be able to qualify for a Department of Public Safety Standards and Training Unarmed Security Professional certification
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate effectively at all levels with both internal and external partners
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully prioritize and manage multiple projects, adhere to deadlines, handle frequent changes effectively and professionally, follow through on issues in a timely manner, and give excellent attention to detail with a high level of accuracy
  • Ability to process information and make sound decisions in a timely manner
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining a high degree of productivity
  • Must be able to work a 4 10 hours shifts schedule occurring between 8am and 7pm
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen

Nice To Haves

  • Prior Security, Loss Prevention, or similar experience preferred
  • Experience with data analysis, forensic investigations, CCTV and alarm systems preferred
  • Familiarity with MS Office applications – specifically Excel – at an intermediate level preferred

Responsibilities

  • Conducts regular patrol of assigned facility, enforces OBRC policies, and prevents loss and damage by detecting and reporting irregularities
  • Supports site operations staff by dealing with aggressive customers through OBRC-provided de-escalation training
  • Researches exception reports, conducts video surveillance, and provides investigative support for the Loss Prevention department
  • Monitors account activity for potential fraud. Takes appropriate action to prevent account fraud
  • Maintains and archives support documentation and keeps adequate records to enable Loss Prevention or law enforcement to investigate and resolve incidents
  • Prepares and communicates timely and detailed reports of incidents
  • Informs and warns violators of rule infractions, such as loitering and out of policy redemptions
  • Adhere to OSHA Safety Standards and OBRC policies
  • Other job duties as assigned
