About The Position

The Inventory Specialist is responsible for managing and maintaining accurate inventory levels to support production, repair operations, and receiving inspection activities. This role ensures efficient tracking, storage, and movement of materials throughout the facility. The Inventory Specialist collaborates with production teams and management to optimize inventory processes, resolve inventory-related issues, and maintain organized inventory systems that support operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to draft routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, and percentages.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Proficiency with inventory or ERP systems (Made2Manage preferred).
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, shipping systems such as UPS and FedEx, and general computer applications.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with frequent interruptions.
  • Attention to detail and strong inventory accuracy mindset.
  • Familiarity with 5S principles and continuous improvement practices
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Responsibilities

  • Manage inventory levels for new production, repair operations, and receiving inspection.
  • Oversee and coordinate all incoming and outgoing inventory materials.
  • Monitor stock levels and manage backorders to ensure timely availability of materials.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure inventory systems are consistently updated.
  • Ensure materials are accurately picked and delivered to the correct production locations.
  • Monitor aging inventory and coordinate the rotation, reallocation, or disposal of obsolete materials.
  • Optimize inventory storage and organization to maximize efficiency and space utilization.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to forecast inventory needs and identify potential shortages.
  • Develop and implement solutions to improve inventory accuracy and operational efficiency.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and improvement of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to inventory management.
  • Maintain 5S standards within the inventory and storage areas.
  • Communicate inventory issues, discrepancies, or risks to plant management.
  • Support other operational tasks and perform additional duties as assigned.
