About The Position

Aurora hires talented people with diverse backgrounds who are ready to help build a transportation ecosystem that will make our roads safer, get crucial goods where they need to go, and make mobility more efficient and accessible for all. We are seeking a dynamic, technically knowledgeable Inventory Operations Manager to drive and transform our inventory controls and processes. This pivotal role drives financial accountability and operational scalability for all inventory execution across our R&D, Manufacturing, Contract Manufacturing (CM), and Fleet verticals, spearheading our transition to high-volume production in the emerging autonomy sector. You will be based onsite in Pittsburgh, PA, five days a week.

Requirements

  • Experience: 5-7+ years in Inventory Management, Warehousing Operations, or Supply Chain Leadership, ideally within high-tech, automotive, aerospace, or manufacturing environments.
  • Technical Expertise: Strong background in ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite), Inventory Control, and Financial Accountability. Familiarity with inventory metrics is required.
  • Leadership: Proven success leading operational teams and delivering measurable improvements in a dynamic, continuously shifting environment.
  • Core Skills: Excellent organizational and communication skills, with demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced setting.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, or a related field.

Nice To Haves

  • APICS Certification (CPIM or CSCP) is highly desirable.
  • Experience in a start-up or fast-growth company environment.
  • Familiarity with Contract Manufacturing and offshore supply chain operations.
  • Exposure to autonomy, robotics, or other emerging technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Inventory Execution & Control: Direct and control all core inventory management functions (Warehousing, Logistics, Inventory Control) as the primary point of accountability across four key domains: Manufacturing, R&D/Prototyping, CM, and Fleet/Spares.
  • Drive Scalability Roadmap: Set the vision and execute the roadmap for Pittsburgh inventory operations, driving process maturity and scalability for the critical shift from R&D to high-volume manufacturing.
  • Ensure Financial Rigor: Enforce rigorous inventory control by mandating FIFO discipline, achieving high cycle count accuracy, and leading all inventory true-up and reconciliation initiatives.
  • Manage Service Excellence: Establish and maintain best-in-class Service Levels (SLAs) across all internal and external stakeholders. Establish, measure and optimize key performance metrics to drive speed, efficiency and cost effectiveness.
  • Champion Continuous Improvement: Identify, propose, and implement data-driven process improvements (e.g., Lean/Six Sigma). Collaborate closely with the Material Planning team to optimize material flow and ensure inventory processes support accurate material forecasts.
  • Team Leadership & Reporting: Lead inventory personnel and drive cross-functional alignment by running routine metric reviews, risk assessments, and executive status reporting. Manage team schedules, prioritize workload and activities across the team, ensure personnel are appropriately cross trained.
