About The Position

The Inventory Manager at Mertz Integration is responsible for the end to end management of the inventory control and movement functions. This role ensures that all manufacturing departments have the necessary materials to maintain seamless project progression. The ideal candidate will balance cost efficiency with the high quality standards required for inventory tracking compliance and production needs.

Requirements

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
  • Successfully passes all applicable general pre-employment testing including but not limited to: background check, pre-employment drug screening, pre-employment fit tests, pre-employment aptitude and/or competency assessment(s) including pre employment Pulmonary Function Test (PFT).
  • Daily overtime required and in person, predictable attendance in Ponca City, OK.
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License required.
  • Most employment is contingent upon meeting company driving standards, including 3 year U.S. driving history and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) in accordance with Company policy.
  • U.S. High school diploma or GED required.
  • 5 - 7 years of relevant Inventory management experience in an industrial/equipment manufacturing environment.
  • 5 plus years in ERP management/implementations required.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Ability to take initiative to actively reduce and optimize inventory levels.
  • Consistently meet deadlines within a fast paced work environment working effectively within time constraints.
  • Highly organized in prioritizing work and multi tasking.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to read, write and comprehend English.
  • Strong communication skills: speaking, writing and listening.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in ERP systems building Bills of Material, Item setup, establishing best in class inventory control.
  • Knowledgeable and experienced with inventory methods and techniques.
  • Safety minded always, particularly on the production floor, adhering to established safety policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor in interactions with colleagues, clients and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to work with complex spreadsheets, databases, and presentation software.
  • Ability to learn new applications quickly; Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) required.

Responsibilities

  • Formulates and institutes procedures for the direction and control of physical inventories, the adequacy of the physical count, and the valuation and recording of the results.
  • Maintains a system of production reporting to monitor inventory transactions.
  • Manages the preparation and implementation of short and long range inventory plans for raw materials, work in process and finished goods to minimize material cost and meet delivery dates.
  • Prepares various reports on the status of jobs in progress, negative inventory balances, items received, inventory adjustments and inventory turnover.
  • Prepares periodic reports or other data for presentation to the management to show the record of achievement concerning established goals, recommended improvements, personnel requirements and other related issues.
  • Maintains effective inventory organization for the company, which includes the selection, training and motivation of assigned personnel who show a high degree of maturity, capability, creativity and professionalism.
  • Establishes and recommends approval of budgets for the inventory control department and maintains necessary control to keep expenditures within budgetary limitations.
  • Oversee the storage and distribution of materials.
  • Conduct regular audits and physical cycle counts to ensure perpetual inventory accuracy, minimizing discrepancies that could stall high priority projects.
  • Collaborate with Product Managers and Department Supervisors to translate customer delivery requirements into actionable material strategies.
  • Establish lead times for each operation (cutting, machining, welding) to have material available to meet promised customer shipping dates.
  • Oversee the warehouse facilities and material handling equipment to ensure safe and efficient movement of heavy fabricated goods, including plans and effective management of forklifts.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and safety in accordance with Mertz Integration’s mission and policies.
  • Ensure appropriate training materials, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), and work instructions are evergreen and employees are properly trained.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to assist with successful operations and business continuity.
