About The Position

The Inventory Controller is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory levels, supporting cycle counts, investigating discrepancies, and ensuring products are properly received, stored, and issued. This role will also serve as a warehouse “floater,” assisting in various warehouse functions such as picking, packing, shipping, receiving, and general operational support as needed. The position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and adherence to safety procedures.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2-3 years of inventory control or warehouse experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with ERP/WMS systems (e.g., Sage 300, NetSuite, or similar).
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data entry.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work on warehouse floors for extended periods.
  • Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and resolve discrepancies.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Forklift certification a plus (or willingness to obtain).

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly cycle counts; reconcile variances and report discrepancies.
  • Monitor inventory accuracy in the warehouse and ERP/WMS systems.
  • Investigate root causes of inventory errors and recommend corrective actions.
  • Ensure proper labeling, storage, and rotation of inventory (FIFO/FEFO).
  • Conduct location audits to confirm items are in the correct bins and stocked properly.
  • Track inbound and outbound inventory movements to support accurate reporting.
  • Assist with physical inventory counts and audit preparation.
  • Implement process improvements to increase inventory accuracy and warehouse efficiency.
  • Assist with picking, packing, and preparing orders for shipment.
  • Provide support with receiving, unloading, and verifying incoming shipments.
  • Help stage materials for production or outbound delivery.
  • Operate warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks, forklifts, or reach trucks (if certified).
  • Maintain general warehouse cleanliness and organization (5S standards).
  • Support team members in other assignments to meet operational goals and deadlines.
  • Update inventory records, adjustments, and transfers in the ERP/WMS.
  • Communicate inventory issues to supervisors and relevant departments.
  • Prepare standard inventory and warehouse activity reports as needed.
