About The Position

The Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory levels and ensuring proper storage, handling, and availability of materials across multiple manufacturing facilities. This role supports production by managing inventory within the CMMS, coordinating interfacility stock movements, and preventing shortages or excess inventory. The position also supports shipping and receiving activities, maintains organized storage areas, and investigates and resolves inventory discrepancies.

Requirements

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with inventory software or ERP/CMMS systems.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for travel between company sites.
  • Ability to operate mobile equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks) for movement of inventory.
  • Must be able to pass a 10 panel controlled substance testing and random testing after that.
  • Must be able to pass a background investigation check and maintain in good standing order, as per TSA’s TWIC criteria.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous inventory, warehouse, or manufacturing experience preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Forklift operation experience preferred, or willingness to obtain certification.
  • Knowledge of inventory control methodologies (e.g., ABC classification, cycle counting) preferred.
  • Experience working with CMMS systems (e.g., Asset Essentials) a plus.
  • Experience in a multi-site manufacturing environment a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate inventory records within the CMMS, ensuring data integrity, standardization, and accurate part classification.
  • Classify inventory using ABC methodology to prioritize control, stocking strategies, and cycle counting efforts.
  • Support the development and implementation of inventory control policies and procedures across all sites.
  • Receive, inspect, and record incoming materials and supplies.
  • Label, organize, and store materials in designated locations in accordance with proper storage practices.
  • Issue materials and components to production according to work orders.
  • Lead cycle counts, physical inventories, and audits across locations.
  • Investigate, analyze, and resolve inventory discrepancies.
  • Track and report inventory KPIs and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinate interfacility inventory transfers to maintain optimal stock levels.
  • Maintain documentation for shipments, receipts, and transfers.
  • Coordinate shipping, receiving, and material handling activities as needed.
  • Administer the Parts Preventive Maintenance (PM) program to ensure availability of critical spare parts.
  • Identify and recommend process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
