JOB SUMMARY: The Inventory Control Manager is responsible for overseeing the accuracy, integrity, and control of all inventory across raw materials, packaging components, work-in-process (WIP), and finished goods. This role ensures inventory is properly tracked, stored, and aligned with production and distribution needs within a GMP-regulated manufacturing environment. This position plays a critical role in supporting production continuity, cost control, and operational efficiency by maintaining accurate inventory records, leading cycle counts and audits, and improving inventory processes and systems. The Inventory Control Manager partners closely with Supply Chain, Production, Quality, and Finance to ensure alignment across planning, purchasing, and manufacturing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
  • 5–8+ years of experience in inventory control, warehouse operations, or supply chain within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience managing inventory across raw materials, WIP, and finished goods.
  • Strong knowledge of ERP/WMS systems and inventory control processes.
  • Experience in GMP-regulated environments (cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, food, or related industries) strongly preferred.
  • Understanding of lot tracking, traceability, FIFO/FEFO, and inventory compliance requirements.
  • Proven ability to analyze discrepancies and implement process improvements.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Inventory Accuracy & Control Own and maintain inventory accuracy across all categories: raw materials, packaging, WIP, and finished goods.
  • Ensure all inventory transactions (receipts, transfers, consumption, adjustments) are accurate and timely within the ERP/WMS system.
  • Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies, root cause variances, and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain clear inventory visibility to support production planning and order fulfillment.
  • Cycle Counts & Audits Develop and manage cycle count programs to maintain high levels of inventory accuracy.
  • Lead physical inventory counts and support periodic full inventory audits.
  • Partner with Finance and Quality to ensure proper reconciliation and reporting.
  • Maintain audit-ready documentation in alignment with GMP and internal controls.
  • Warehouse & Inventory Processes Establish and enforce inventory control procedures, including receiving, put-away, storage, picking, and issuing materials to production.
  • Ensure proper material identification, labeling, lot tracking, and traceability.
  • Optimize warehouse organization to improve efficiency, accuracy, and space utilization.
  • Support FIFO/FEFO practices and monitor shelf-life and expiration of materials.
  • Production & Supply Chain Alignment Partner with Production to ensure timely and accurate material staging and issuance for compounding and manufacturing.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain and Purchasing to align inventory levels with demand forecasts and production schedules.
  • Monitor inventory levels to prevent stockouts, overstock, and obsolescence.
  • Support new product introductions by ensuring accurate setup and tracking of new SKUs.
  • Systems & Reporting Maintain and improve inventory processes within ERP/WMS systems.
  • Develop and monitor KPIs such as inventory accuracy, shrinkage, turns, and aging.
  • Generate reports and insights to support decision-making across Operations and Finance.
  • Support system implementations, upgrades, or process improvements related to inventory management.
  • Compliance & Quality Ensure all inventory practices comply with GMP, FDA, and internal quality standards.
  • Maintain proper documentation and traceability for regulated products, including OTC skincare where applicable.
  • Support audits, inspections, and regulatory requirements related to inventory control.
  • Leadership & Team Management Lead and develop inventory control staff and warehouse personnel involved in inventory processes.
  • Train team members on inventory procedures, systems, and compliance requirements.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
