General Summary The Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (CIS) provides direct patient care to the Cath Lab Patients. Assumes responsibility and accountability for the performance of duties and phases of Cath Lab procedures. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Demonstrates knowledge of all phases of cardiac cath lab procedures to include hemodynamic monitoring and electrocardiograph recognition. Demonstrates skills, knowledge, and ability to perform as first scrub assistant for all adult diagnostic and interventional cases including PTCA, Stents, IVUS, Angiojet, cutting balloon, IABP, Rotoblater, and permanent Pacemaker insertion or Defibrillator insertion. Fluoroscopic equipment manipulation. Demonstrates skills, knowledge and ability to perform as first scrub assistant for all diagnostic and therapeutic EP studies. Understands and is able to utilize all equipment specific to EP studies. Demonstrates knowledge of various radiographic injection techniques. Manipulates hemodynamic recording/procedural record equipment, demonstrates knowledge of ACT and oximeter devices. Demonstrates knowledge of ACT and oximeter devices. Knows cardiac anatomy, physiology and medical terminology. Works in a multifunctional team environment and demonstrate ability to set priorities. Displays knowledge and skills for sheath removal and achievement of hemostasis (manual and device). Maintains supplies and equipment. Utilizes computer system for inventory tracking and maintains current database of supplies. Prepares materials management system requisitions for non-stock and inventory items. Supports regulatory tracking mechanisms for implantable devices. Works with physician’s and staff to meet their needs and wants for equipment and supplies. Provides support and leadership to the functioning of the department. Serves as resource person for staff regarding supplies and equipment while fostering an environment of collaboration and teamwork. Acts as liaison with Materials Management department. Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of a formalized ARRT, RCIS, LPN, RN or allied health program or one year practical experience in the health field.
  • BLS certification required.
  • ACLS Certification required.
  • IABP experience within 6 months of hire.
  • Must already hold CCI-RCIS and/or ARRT-CI credenital or must obtain CCI-RCIS within 18 months of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred two years of experience working in an interventional cardiac cath lab.
  • Experience with non-cardiac, peripheral vascular angiography and intervention is preferred.
