About The Position

All Hinds Community College employees must commit to the Caring Campus approach to student engagement and daily apply these general behavioral objectives: listen to student questions and concerns with a positive attitude and make meaningful connections with students.

Requirements

  • Previous experience working with youth.
  • Bachelor’s degree (Required) preferably in Education (Math and/or Science).
  • Must have teacher certification.
  • Experience working with low-income, first generation, and students with risk for academic failure.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain knowledge of diversity-related issues, legislation, and best practices.
  • Must possess excellent verbal, written, and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Must provide supplemental and intense interventions to Upward Bound Math & Science participants.
  • Must serve as learning advocates/resource brokers to participants as part of the “Check and Connect” Mentoring Program
  • Must maintain knowledge of diversity-related issues, legislation, and best practices.
  • Must serve participants in the after-school tutorial program.
  • Must possess public relations, marketing, and advertising skills.
  • Must screen applications for participant eligibility.
  • Must maintain participant files
  • Must perform other duties as required to achieve program goals and objectives.
