Requirements
- AAS in Radiologic Technology (or equivalent hospital-based certificate program)
- Current NYS license in Radiologic Technology
- Advanced certification in Cardiovascular/Interventional Technology preferred
Responsibilities
- Diagnostic imaging
- Operate and adjust imaging equipment
- Explain procedure to patient, position patient and equipment
- Obtains and records a complete clinical history pertinent to the examination requested.
- Evaluates requests for appropriateness, refers concerns to coordinator and/or Radiologist.
- Ability to compress and evaluate arterial and venous puncture sites.
- Selects appropriate technical factors for requested imaging exam.
- Assists in the instruction of student technologists and new personnel.
- Selects accurate post processing techniques in order to optimize vascular/interventional images.
- Has full knowledge of inventories available and their applications (catheters, guidewires and stents).
- Maintains aseptic technique during procedures and scrub with physician.
- Ability to access and interpret lab values and patient monitoring equipment.
