Interventional Radiology Technologists are specialized Interventional Radiologists that support the most cutting-edge therapies offered at Cleveland Clinic. In this role, you will assist physicians with minimally invasive, image-guided vascular procedures, including angioplasty, stenting and thrombolysis. You will use fluoroscopic equipment to capture images of blood vessels. By doing so, you will be able to intervene on a patient's potential heart blockages that could cause a heart attack, leading to saving their lives. Taking on this opportunity will not only allow you to advance your skills but can also lead to cross-training in Electrophysiology and additional educational training. A caregiver in this position works days from, 10:00am—6:30pm.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited school of radiologic technology
Registered Technologist credentialed by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and in good standing
Current state licensure as a Radiology Technologist
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross

Nice To Haves

One year of experience as a General Radiologic Technologist
Knowledge of radiologic physics and computerized vascular equipment, so as to safely inject and image human vascular anatomy
Thorough knowledge of vascular anatomy and pathology sufficient to apply to interventional and diagnostic exams
Must be knowledgeable of sterile technique with ability to create and maintain sterile environment
Ability to function well with minimal to no supervision, especially during after hours call-in emergency service

Responsibilities

Utilize sterile or aseptic technique to scrub in and perform vascular, interventional, and surgical procedures per protocol.
Educate patients regarding procedures, equipment, and exams to ensure understanding and cooperation.
Ensure patients safety and comfort during and after exams.
Demonstrate understanding of primary purpose of drugs used in IR, indications, contraindications, contrast drug interactions and major effects.
Record and maintain procedural data to include injection data, elapsed fluoroscopic time and procedural information.
Monitor equipment, systems, clean equipment, and effects timely repair.
Learn new technical information and skills through attendance of periodic in-service programs and participation in professional affiliation sessions.
