Interventional Radiology Technologists are specialized Interventional Radiologists that support the most cutting-edge therapies offered at Cleveland Clinic. In this role, you will assist physicians with minimally invasive, image-guided vascular procedures, including angioplasty, stenting and thrombolysis. You will use fluoroscopic equipment to capture images of blood vessels. By doing so, you will be able to intervene on a patient's potential heart blockages that could cause a heart attack, leading to saving their lives. Taking on this opportunity will not only allow you to advance your skills but can also lead to cross-training in Electrophysiology and additional educational training. A caregiver in this position works days from, 7:30am—4:00pm.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of radiologic technology
• Registered Technologist credentialed by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and in good standing
• Current state licensure as a Radiology Technologist
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross

Nice To Haves

• One year of experience as a General Radiologic Technologist
• Knowledge of radiologic physics and computerized vascular equipment, so as to safely inject and image human vascular anatomy.
• Thorough knowledge of vascular anatomy and pathology sufficient to apply to interventional and diagnostic exams.
• Must be knowledgeable of sterile technique with ability to create and maintain sterile environment.
• Ability to function well with minimal to no supervision, especially during after hours call-in emergency service.

Responsibilities

• Utilize sterile or aseptic technique to scrub in and perform vascular, interventional, and surgical procedures per protocol.
• Educate patients regarding procedures, equipment, and exams to ensure understanding and cooperation.
• Ensure patients safety and comfort during and after exams.
• Demonstrate understanding of primary purpose of drugs used in IR, indications, contraindications, contrast drug interactions and major effects.
• Record and maintain procedural data to include injection data, elapsed fluoroscopic time and procedural information.
• Monitor equipment, systems, clean equipment, and effects timely repair.
• Learn new technical information and skills through attendance of periodic in-service programs and participation in professional affiliation sessions.
