QUALIFICATIONS Required: Candidates must demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills, a high level of organization, and an attention to detail. Comfort with computer systems and electronic medical records is required. A calm, professional demeanor and a commitment to maintaining a supportive treatment environment are essential. This role includes cross-training as a Medical Assistant, and candidates must obtain CMA certification within 15 months of hire. Sky Lakes will support certification and provide BLS and ACLS training. Preferred: An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Neuroscience, Nursing, or a related field is preferred. Previous experience as an EMT or in emergency medical services is highly desirable. Clinical or mental health care experience, along with prior training in TMS or Esketamine treatment, or familiarity with REMS programs, TMS protocols, or medication administration procedures, will be considered a plus. Lic/Reg/Cert : Required Certification through one of the listed organizations within 15 months of employment: CMA--American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) RMA--American Medical Technologists (AMT) CCMA--National Healthcareer Association (NHA) NCMA--National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT). Required 1 year of MA experience and 3 months certification preparation time. TYPICAL PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS The physical and mental demands of a Behavioral Health Patient Navigator typically include the ability to sit, stand, and work at a computer for extended periods while managing a high volume of documentation, communication, and coordination tasks. The role requires clear and focused thinking, strong attention to detail, and the capacity to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment. Navigators must be able to remain emotionally composed, exercise sound judgment, and respond calmly and professionally in stressful or sensitive situations involving patients in crisis. The position may also involve occasional lifting or movement of items up to 25 pounds, as well as frequent interaction with patients, families, and multidisciplinary team members, requiring sustained empathy, active listening, and effective communication. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Patient Care: Provide compassionate, patient-centered care throughout all phases of treatment. Establish and maintain therapeutic rapport with patients undergoing TMS and Esketamine therapy. Observe and assess patients' emotional and physical needs during treatment, responding appropriately. Ensure patient safety and comfort, following clinic protocols and ethical standards. Communicate clearly with patients regarding procedures, expectations, and treatment goals. Support patients experiencing anxiety or side effects, escalating concerns when necessary. TMS Administration: Administer TMS sessions in accordance with clinical protocols and safety standards. Set up, calibrate, and maintain TMS equipment. Monitor patient comfort, safety, and tolerance during TMS sessions. Document treatment parameters and patient responses in the EMR system. Provide observations and feedback to the supervising provider. Obtain and verify insurance authorizations for TMS treatments. Esketamine Administration: Assist in the administration of Esketamine under licensed medical supervision. Monitor patients before, during, and after treatment, including a two-hour post-observation period. Record vital signs, patient experiences, and report any adverse events. Ensure adherence to REMS protocols. Safely handle, store, and document medication use in compliance with regulations. Obtain and verify insurance authorizations for Esketamine treatments. Administrative and Clinical Support: Educate patients on treatment protocols and expectations. Assist with scheduling, appointment preparation, and maintaining accurate EMR documentation. Collaborate with the clinical team during treatment planning and case reviews. Ensure patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations. Contribute to the continuous improvement of clinic workflows and protocols. Cross-train to provide Medical Assistant support, including rooming patients, recording vitals, and assisting providers.
