About The Position

Harborview Medical Center – Radiology has an outstanding opportunity for an Interventional Cardiovascular Technologist. Under general direction from the Imaging Lead and/or Imaging Supervisor, this role will perform complex technical procedures and assist physicians during clinical and research examinations such as angioplasties, embolization's, chemotherapy treatments, and intracranial procedures. Radiology Services at Harborview Medical Center offers a full complement of radiology tests and imaging procedures, including nuclear medicine and interventional radiology (angiography). As the region's only Level I Trauma and verified burn center, Harborview Medical Center is a comprehensive healthcare facility owned by King County and operated by UW Medicine, dedicated to providing specialized care for a broad spectrum of patients from throughout the Pacific Northwest, including the most vulnerable residents of King County. Requirements

  • Associate of Arts (AA) degree from an accredited Radiologic Technologist Program
  • Registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • Licensure by the State of Washington as a Radiologic Technologist (RT)
  • Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license.

Responsibilities

  • Independently performs and assists the physicians in performing all vascular procedures in body, neuro, and cardiac.
  • Including, but not limited to Embolization, Angioplasty, Drug Infusions, Stent and Filter placements, and Pressure measurements.
  • Participates in performing diagnostic interventional Angiograms.
  • Monitors patient vital signs and conditions during examinations.
  • Performs Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) if necessary.
  • Operates the following equipment/systems: PACS, MacLab, IntelliShelf/MPOUS, Hospital Information System, and the Radiology Information System.
  • Able to print and retrieve images.
  • Can implement downtime procedures as needed.
  • Assists in training new angiography technologists and residents.
  • Participates in formal training programs for residents, fellows, and student technologists.
  • Prepares patient for examination: explaining the procedure, making sure there is a signed consent form.
  • Prepare the area of access using sterile technique.
  • Performs or assists with Angiography procedures in areas outside Angio suite such as Operating Room, using the OEC c-arm and Procedure Room 1.
  • Provides the appropriate education to patient and their families prior to and post Radiology procedure.
