About The Position

Assist staff in providing a safe closed educational environment that promotes the development and personal growth of disabled students unable to be mainstreamed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Associate’s (or higher) degree, or two-years (60 Semester-Hour credits) of study at an institute of higher learning OR Completion of an AZ Dept. of Education-approved Academic Assessment Test.
  • Verbal & written communication skills in English and a demonstrated ability to read and comprehend written/graphic and oral instructions.
  • FBI fingerprint background check.
  • Proof of immunity to rubeola (measles) and rubella (German measles), or proof of MMR immunization
  • CPR and First Aid Certification
  • Annual mandatory training on Bloodborne Pathogens, Universal Precautions, and Hepatitis B vaccination series
  • Must release Social Security Number to be eligible for [AZ Health Care Cost Containment System] AHCCCSProvider ID Number
  • Physical Examination with Lift Test to be done by one of the clinics with which the District contracts (Category B) and sign a Medical History form
  • Must complete Student Intervention Techniques (SIT) training within 6 months of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Two years experience working with children.
  • One year of experience working with emotionally disabled youth or children in a closed institutional setting.
  • Knowledge or training of behavior management programs such as Client Intervention Technique training, or Therapeutic Crisis Intervention, or de-escalation skills or experience.
