About The Position

The Strong takes pride in exploring ways in which play encourages learning, creativity, discovery and how it illuminates cultural history. We are seeking highly skilled and versatile performers with a strong background in improv and/or sketch comedy. A collaborative spirit and playfulness are a must as our performers will be interacting directly with guests and other performers in captivating and didactic ways. Musical theatre and/or immersive theatre experience a plus. We are casting the following roles who will appear from time to time as storybook characters and may make appearances in Museum promotional materials: 1. Nare Rattor: Female-presenting or non-binary actor. Calculated and deliberate; dry humor; always thinks before she acts. 2. Tori Sellers: Female-presenting actor. Vibrant; energetic; sometimes impulsive. 3. Teller O’Tales: Male-presenting actor. Over the top; comedic; sometimes can be absent minded. 4. Ray Conteur: Male-presenting or nonbinary actor. Serious but not cold; Very grounded; considers all possible options before acting.

  • Be ready to perform a 1–2-minute comedic monologue OR a 1-minute comedic monologue and a 16 to 32 bar cut of a folk song or an up-tempo musical theater appropriate for children's theatre, which can be: Self-accompanied (you must provide your own instrument) Accompanied by a karaoke track
