Requirements
- Ability to learn and memorize scripted materials and historical details
- Ability to work independently over long periods of time within the scope of established rules and regulations to satisfy the needs of our guests
- Ability to handle stressful situations and difficult people while maintaining a professional and pleasant demeanor
- Ability to read, write and speak fluent English in order to communicate with fellow employees and the general public
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including days, evenings, weekends and holidays
- Must be able to work outside
- Must pass pre-employment background check and substance abuse testing
- Have a passion for helping people and making their Key West experience a memorable one.
Nice To Haves
- High school graduate or equivalent preferred
- Strong interest in history is desirable
- Prior performance or interpretation experience preferred
Responsibilities
- Present historically accurate information in an entertaining manner in costume, on a moving trolley on busy streets and outdoors in various weather conditions, several times a work shift, in a loud audible voice with or without amplification to be heard from everywhere in the trolley.
- Portray costumes historical characters, either based upon real persons or composites of real persons to entertain and narrate local history from an approved script.
- Study and rehearse roles from scripts to learn and memorize lines and cues as directed.
- Ability to fill multiple acting roles withing the tour, and switch positions with ease when required during a work shift.
- Use props as directed and remain on show schedule when performing.
