UW Medical Center-Montlake’s Interpreter Services has an outstanding opportunity for an Interpreter Services Coordinator. Requirements

  • High school graduation or equivalent AND two years of experience in a healthcare or administrative role.
  • Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate interpreter scheduling for patients with Limited English Proficiency (LEP), as well as those who are Deaf, Deafblind, or Hard of Hearing
  • Collaborate with interpreters to conduct rounds on inpatient units, ensuring effective communication and language access for patients
  • Manage and fulfill interpreter service requests, confirming details with the originating clinic, unit, or department
  • Efficiently handle high volumes of detailed information within tight timeframes
  • Develop and distribute daily schedules for staff interpreters
  • Facilitate interpreter services through external agencies, telephonic platforms, and video systems, while promptly addressing urgent same-day requests for in-person interpretation
  • Safeguard sensitive information, including medical and financial data, in all formats—printed, electronic, and verbal
  • Review and reconcile vendor invoices, investigate discrepancies, and coordinate timely payments
  • Participate in departmental meetings and professional conferences
  • Oversee inventory and ordering of supplies, and ensure proper maintenance of office equipment
  • Provide general administrative support as needed
