About The Position

The Internship Programs Coordinator applies project management skills to create a robust series of programming to prepare students for the workforce through various types of on campus experiential learning: project based learning, learning-integrated work, micro-internships, and shadow experiences. You have excellent customer service and organizational skills, time management skills with exceptional attention to detail. Essential for this role is the adeptness to work independently as well as part of a team with a collaborative approach to problem-solving.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (foreign equivalent or higher).
  • Two (2) years of full-time administrative work experience (student experience may be considered).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience developing and executing programs and/or events.
  • Experience designing and presenting F2F & virtual content for a diverse, college educated audience.
  • Experience working with college students.
  • Experience with technology (e.g. databases, spreadsheets, web-based systems).
  • Experience advising and/or coaching.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate F2F & virtual programs that support student development of career readiness competencies through on campus learning integrated work experiences.
  • Coordinate large scale recognition events.
  • Provide logistical support for a variety of employer-student events, including job & internship fairs, networking meet-ups, virtual and others.
  • Staff events that occur in the evenings and on weekends.
  • Assist staff and faculty with integration of high impact practices with on campus learning integrated work experiences through expansion of the GROW program and infusion of best practices in experiential education.
  • Assist in the development metrics to measure experiential learning outcomes/impact.
  • Coach and prep students individually and in groups via F2F and virtual, on search strategies, helping students to clarify career interests, compose strong personal branding and applications, and present professionally.
  • Guide students on the use of Handshake and other career tools; conduct mock interviews and critique application materials.
  • Prepare, enhance and maintain digital resources.
  • Assist with the promotion and highlighting of student experiences.
  • Review, approve, and promote experiential opportunities posted in our recruitment system.
  • Collect data to track impact of students’ experiences and assess achievement of learning outcomes and career readiness competencies.
  • Create reports and presentations using Excel, Qualtrics, PowerPoint & other tools.
  • Participate in opportunities that promote your learning, growth, and development (i.e. classes, training, committee, webinar, etc.).
  • Contribute to the Division of Student Affairs and Stony Brook University by attending and/or supporting events, activities, and programs sponsored by areas outside of your individual unit/department (i.e. campus wide traditions, events, programs, etc.).
  • Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission.
