About The Position

The Washington Capitals Summer Media Relations Intern will assist with the day-to-day duties of the communications department. Are you a current student looking for hands-on sports industry experience. We’d love to hear from you!

Requirements

  • Working towards a bachelor’s degree in communications, English, journalism, business, sports management or other related major.
  • Available to work Monday through Thursday.
  • Strong writing, editing, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Dedicated, hard-working, punctual, dependable, self-reliant, resourceful and a great teammate.
  • Ability to work on timeline, manage multiple tasks while working independently or as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with Adobe InDesign and Photoshop.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor media coverage of the organization and compile daily clips email.
  • Manage team photographs including archiving.
  • Update the department’s distribution lists.
  • Write and edit material for use in the team’s draft and development camp guides, as well as 2026-27 media guide.
  • Assist with development camp media availabilities and projects.
  • Monitor and compile coverage for the summer media coverage recap.
  • Draft and edit press releases, media advisories and other editorial content.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
