We are R esponsive We have I ntegrity We are D ynamic We exhibit E xcellence GENERAL SUMMARY The Compliance and Security/Legal Intern will support the Legal and Security functions by assisting with regulatory compliance, physical and information security processes, and government-related security requirements. This internship provides hands-on exposure to industrial security, government regulations, and compliance frameworks within a Defense Industrial Base (DIB) environment. The intern will work cross-functionally with Legal, Facilities, IT, and Security teams while developing a foundational understanding of classified and unclassified information handling, audits, and government security standards.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in one of the following fields: Criminal Justice, Cyber Security / Information Security, Security Management, Industrial Security
  • Ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, and the basic Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Interest in legal compliance, security regulations, and government contracting environments.
  • Sight: must be able to regularly read computer screen, reports, and various documents with detail and clarity to accomplish work tasks in a safe and efficient manner, including regular use of adequate close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus
  • Hearing: must be able to regularly hear well enough to communicate
  • Hand-Eye Coordination: must be able to regularly coordinate one’s eyes with one’s fingers, wrists, or arms to move, carry, or manipulate objects or to perform other job-related tasks
  • Manual Dexterity: must be able to regularly make quick, accurate, skillful, and coordinated movement with hands and arms to grasp, place, move, or use objects such as phone, computer, and other office equipment, tools, or controls
  • Agility: must be able to regularly bend, stretch, twist, or reach out with the body, arms, or legs to perform job tasks, including the ability to move throughout all areas of the facility, Company’s property surrounding facility, or additional work areas
  • Climbing / Kneeling: must be able to occasionally climb, kneel, bend over, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, with balance
  • Lifting: must be able to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds with or without assistance
  • Physical Strength: must be able to occasionally lift, push, pull, or carry objects using hands, arms, back, abdominal muscles, shoulders, legs, or a combination of these muscle groups
  • Stamina: must be able to occasionally exert oneself physically over long periods of time, including performing repetitive or strenuous tasks as well as standing and sitting for long periods

Responsibilities

  • Assist in conducting quarterly internal audits of electronic and physical access systems, including security cameras, keys/locks, and badging systems.
  • Support the drafting, review, and posting of security policies, procedures, and updates.
  • Research global threat levels and risk assessments related to foreign travel and prepare supporting documentation.
  • Participate in travel briefings and debriefings for employees with international travel requirements.
  • Assist with investigations of security incidents and support corrective actions as needed.
  • Support the management and tracking of badging, key control, camera systems, inventories, and related access systems.
  • Provide administrative and documentation support for U.S. Government system access requests for employees.
  • Assist with reviewing and updating security training materials to ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Gain exposure to background check processes, vetting procedures, and visual compliance requirements.
  • Learn and apply requirements related to Unclassified and Classified Information handling.
  • Support preparation efforts for government audits, assessments, and inspections.
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings and collaborate with internal stakeholders across departments.
  • Enroll in and complete assigned CDSE (Center for Development of Security Excellence) courses, achieving a minimum score of 80%.
  • Learn and increase knowledge of the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM).
  • Gain firsthand exposure to security clearance processes, Common Access Cards (CAC), and government credentialing.
  • Observe and learn the management of a physical security services provider.
  • Participate in community involvement initiatives within the Defense Industrial Base (DIB).
