This means you will be expected to report to one of our Aflac offices located in Columbus, GA for at least 60% of the work week. You will work from your home (within the continental US) for the remaining portion of the work week. Details of this schedule will be discussed with your leadership.

Requirements

  • JPLT (Japanese Language Proficiency Test) N4/N3 or equivalent required, or completed within 18 months after hire date
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Bilingual ability (English and Japanese) sufficient to handle routine office and relocation communications
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively and exercise discretion, judgment, and diplomacy when dealing with internal and external customers including members of Aflac Japan, Aflac companies’ executive management, VIP guests from strategic partners and the public
  • Experience and proficiency using Microsoft Office software, including basic proficiency using Excel as well as intermediate proficiency using Word and PowerPoint
  • Bachelor’s degree in international studies or related discipline
  • No prior experience required for candidates with a bachelor’s degree in international studies or a related discipline. Candidates with a bachelor’s degree in other fields must have at least 2 years of corporate business experience.

Responsibilities

  • Performs various liaison duties and responsibilities under senior liaison members’ supervision and guidance.
  • Provides support to expats/trainees from Aflac Japan and their families throughout their U.S. assignments to facilitate a smooth transition and ensure their safety during their stay; coordinates with receiving departments to set up the work environment, assists with general living arrangements, supports orientation and acculturation, and provides language and other relocation assistance.
  • Assists in managing inquiries and business requests between Aflac Japan and U.S. teams by receiving, screening, and routing communications; responds to routine questions about company operations, department services, events, procedures, and policies, or directs inquiries to appropriate team members as needed. Provides basic Japanese–English translation support, introductory cultural insights, and non-critical Japan-related research, such as gathering general articles, statistical data, and publicly available information. Maintains organized and up-to-date reference files and documentation to support daily team operations.
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for routine scheduling and coordination between managers, team members, and visitors; reviews requests, schedules standard appointments, and makes necessary arrangements in alignment with established processes. Resolves straightforward issues by applying company policies and judgment, escalating only when appropriate.
  • Prepares routine English-language communications—such as emails, meeting requests, agendas, and basic announcements—by drafting from templates or verbal instructions and ensuring accuracy, clarity, and proper formatting. Coordinates with team members or Creative partners on straightforward content needs as directed.
  • Maintains organized electronic and physical filing systems by updating records, labeling materials, and ensuring documents are stored accurately for quick reference. Follows established procedures to support knowledge sharing and effective office operations, and handles confidential information in accordance with policy.
  • Provides basic support for Japan-related administrative tasks by preparing simple documents, assisting with expense submissions, and updating payment-related information as directed. Follows established procedures across entities to ensure accuracy and timely handling of items connected to Japan operations. Collaborates with team members when questions arise to maintain consistency and compliance.
  • Provides basic Japanese–English translation support for routine, non-critical materials and assists business partners by offering introductory cultural information as needed. Seeks guidance from senior team members when handling content related to sensitive topics or requiring deeper cultural nuance.
