About The Position

The Int’l. EH&S Director will lead and align environmental, health, and safety initiatives across affiliated flour/feed milling and trading operations, ensuring regulatory compliance, risk mitigation, while building a culture of safety excellence in diverse and often remote locations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering Discipline, Environmental Science, or Milling/Feed Sciences
  • 8+ years of EH&S leadership in manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of U.S. and international EH&S regulations
  • Fluency in English required
  • Strong communication, organizational, facilitation, change management and mentoring skills
  • Ability to travel internationally up to 30-50% (multiple trips/year of varying duration, often 10+ days)
  • Physically fit to navigate challenging site conditions (e.g., climbing stairs, tight spaces)

  • Experience working in developing countries and remote locations
  • French and Spanish preferred

Responsibilities

  • Global EH&S Strategy: Develop and implement a unified EH&S framework across a mix of consolidated and non-consolidated international operations, tailored to local regulations and cultural contexts.
  • Combustible Dust & Process Safety: Oversee housekeeping standards to enable explosion prevention systems and ensure compliance with NFPA 61, ATEX, and local standards in flour and feed milling environments.
  • Food Safety Integration: Collaborate with Quality and Regulatory teams to align EH&S programs with food safety standards and audits. Ensure understanding and adherence to environmental regulations across all facilities.
  • Incident Management: Lead investigations and corrective actions for relevant safety incidents, including equipment failures, contamination/adulteration risks, and occupational injuries. Work across operations domains (Capital Excellence, FS/QA, Strategic Sourcing, etc.) to ensure practices and standards are understood and adopted
  • Training & Capacity Building: Work with OD (Organizational Development Resources) to support the design and delivery of EH&S training programs for multilingual teams, emphasizing lockout/tagout, confined space entry, PPE use and other safety topics.
  • Environmental Stewardship: Provide insights regarding air emissions, wastewater, and stormwater compliance, especially in grain handling and milling operations.
  • Audit & Continuous Improvement: Administer or facilitate operations safety audits, risk surveys, and provide feedback to site EH&S leadership to prioritize the most significant risks. Engage in providing feedback for performance reviews to drive EH&S excellence and standardization.
  • Cross-Cultural Leadership: Lead and champion an SOTG Safety Steering team and Mentor EH&S professionals across developing countries, fostering collaboration and knowledge-sharing across regions.
