About The Position

The International Air Freight Import Operations Specialist is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service, ensuring accurate and timely air import operations, and providing competitive rate quotations. This role manages key accounts, supports international partners, and ensures compliance with company regulatory standards. Duties may evolve based on business and operational needs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 4 years of international freight forwarding experience with an emphasis on air imports.
  • Proficiency with freight forwarding systems such as CargoWise, SAP TM, or Gateway.
  • Working knowledge of import regulations, documentation requirements (IFS, AMS, CBP), and pricing methodologies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong adherence to SOPs with the ability to support policy improvements.
  • Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • High level of organization and attention to detail.
  • Collaborative and team-oriented work style.
  • Ability to prioritize and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Basic math competency (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, International Trade, or Transportation & Logistics is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, route, and process import freight in accordance with company standards.
  • Enter shipment data into transportation systems and maintain accurate shipment records.
  • Record Proof of Departure and Proof of Delivery within required systems.
  • Update customers and management on shipment status through tracking tools and program updates.
  • Serve as primary contact for key accounts, including U.S. customers and international shippers/consignees.
  • Provide high-quality customer service and ensure timely issue resolution.
  • Request and evaluate rates from overseas agents and vendors.
  • Prepare and send rate correspondence; follow up on outstanding requests.
  • Quote shipments to meet customer needs while maximizing company revenue.
  • Coordinate quoted costs with applicable internal personnel.
  • Accurately collect and enter job costs for billing and file posting.
  • Resolve payment discrepancies and ensure invoicing accuracy.
  • Participate in import operations training and contribute to process improvement initiatives.
