Job Summary Drive sales and build strong relationships with producers to generate revenue and meet sales quotas. The Internal Sales Consultant proactively calls agents and recruits new agents to build a book of business. This position ensures constant communication with all members of the team as well as with the producers working to develop strong relationships and promoting agent recruiting and retention through sales ideas, marketing campaigns, illustrations and effective management and utilization of Hanleigh resources. Position will be Hybrid in the office a few days per week.

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent education, training and work-related experience
  • Proven relationship building skills
  • Prior experience with life insurance products
  • Understanding of sales concepts, corresponding illustrations, and the underwriting process helpful
  • Understanding of commissions and client service process
  • Experience with database management
  • Strong negotiation skills with the ability to use advanced judgment in problem solving

Nice To Haves

  • Two years of work experience in the Disability or Life insurance industry
  • Exposure to either Group Insurance solutions or Executive Benefits consulting
  • State Insurance Licenses

Responsibilities

  • Successfully build relationships with key producers to discuss complex sales concepts, marketing campaigns, and product information.
  • Coordinate with aligned team and producers to run insurance illustrations and suggest and implement creative solutions.
  • Assist to incrementally grow book of aligned business to reflect strategic organizational business plan requirements.
  • Maintain proactive sales relationships with aligned producers/agents/brokers and/or assigned accounts through ongoing producer profiling, constant relationship-building, and refining and refreshment of their agent/broker base
  • Develop new business by recruiting new agents and growing existing agent groups to maximize revenue potential
  • Partner with External Sales Consultants on all aspects of producer development and maintenance of business.
  • Be able to call on tier 2 & 3 agents in a sales capacity (defined as those generally not serviced in-person)
  • Maintain a proactive and supportive relationship with the Sales, Underwriting, and Operations teams and internally aligned corporate solution centers.
  • Lead regular team meetings and establish team priorities with the sales team.
  • Prepare monthly forecast, discuss hot list of cases each month, and ensure that each team member is aware of their responsibilities.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of pending priority cases and be able to close those cases as necessary. Develop expert knowledge of core Hanleigh products, carriers, and corporate resources.
