About The Position

Position Summary: To provide consultation as well as acute and urgent care to in-patients, and supervise scheduled mid-level providers.

Requirements

• MD or DO Degree required.
• Board Certification in Internal Medicine; Active and unrestricted medical license, BLS, and DEA required.
• ACLS certified
• Excellent focus on the patient bedside manner and clinical skills.
• Demonstrates high quality case management abilities and clinical competency from previous experiences in patient care
• Excellent human relations and oral/written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Obtain health history and perform physical examinations
• Diagnose and direct counseling for each patient on a plan for treatment
• Prescribe medication in accordance with Florida statute and professional practice guidelines
• Perform minor surgical procedures
• Arrange referral for patients requiring services not offered at the HWC
• Review incoming reports (e.g. lab, x-ray, EKG, hospital and specialties reports etc.) sign, date and follow-up in a timely manner
• Participate in utilization review, quality assurance, provider meetings, and other clinical meetings
• Assist in updating protocols and principles of practice as requested
• Assist in outside medical public relations functions
• Responsible for maintaining accurate and complete medical records, for completing proper coding requirements, and different forms as required.
• Participate in quality assurance and related activities.
• Provides oversight of mid-level providers
• Maintain a close liaison with the PCP of Hospital Services for coordinating the transition of care from clinic to hospital and back to clinic.
• Participates in after-hours “on-call” patient phone calls coverage on rotating basis.
• Emergency duty may be required of the incumbent that includes working in Red Cross shelters or to perform other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to threats or disasters, man-made or natural.
• Additionally, incumbents are required to perform emergency response and management duties for Palm Beach County as required
