Requirements
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited institution
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine
- A current, valid medical license to practice in the state of Virginia (or eligibility to obtain one)
- A valid DEA registration for prescribing controlled substances
Responsibilities
- Providing patient care services as part of a collaborative healthcare team
- Performing comprehensive history and physical assessments
- Diagnosing and managing acute and chronic conditions
- Ordering and interpreting diagnostic labs and tests
- Developing and evaluating individualized treatment plans
- Prescribing pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions
- Coordinating specialty referrals and consultations
- Recognizing and responding to emergent situations with life-saving interventions
- Educating patients and families on health maintenance and disease prevention
- Advocating patients’ rights and diverse needs
- Participating in clinic meetings and daily safety huddles
- Engaging in continuing medical education and professional development
- Demonstrating leadership, mentorship, and evidence-based practice
- Maintaining regulatory compliance and documentation standards
