Job Summary The Internal Communications Senior Manager leads the development, execution, and continuous improvement of Sundt's internal communication strategies, tools, and channels. This role ensures consistent, clear, and engaging messaging that reinforces company values, business priorities, employee programs, and organizational performance. The Senior Manager oversees the employee newsletter, intranet, and enterprise-wide internal communication campaigns while managing a small team responsible for internal requests such as awards, rankings, and collateral. This position collaborates closely with cross-functional partners to support effective employee engagement and information flow across the company.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of managerial experience leading teams, programs, or cross-functional initiatives.
  • 7+ years of experience in internal communications, employee communications, or corporate communications; construction or related industry experience preferred.
  • Ability to collaborate and influence effectively at all levels, including executive leadership, managers, and cross-functional partners.
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, Business or related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute communication strategies that support organizational objectives.
  • Experience optimizing digital communication tools, such as intranets or employee communication platforms.
  • Proven project management skills, with experience managing multiple deadlines and maintaining communication quality across initiatives.
  • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills with the ability to translate complex topics into clear, concise employee messages.

Nice To Haves

  • construction or related industry experience preferred.
  • Sharepoint experience a plus.
  • Familiarity with vendor management or working with creative, digital, or technical partners is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with IT on the evolution of Sundt's employee intranet to improve usability, relevance and content freshness.
  • Develop editorial calendars, communication frameworks, and content guidelines that support company-wide communication consistency.
  • Ensure internal communication content aligns with brand standards and contributes to a cohesive employee experience.
  • Lead and manage internal communication programs in collaboration with the Corporate Director of Marketing, ensuring consistent messaging that supports Sundt's strategic initiatives and employee-owner culture.
  • Manage a small internal communications team responsible for fulfilling internal requests, including award submissions, industry rankings, business collateral, messaging support, and other internal deliverables.
  • Manage project timelines, deliverables, and stakeholder expectations across multiple simultaneous initiatives.
  • Oversee, evaluate, and continuously improve the company-wide employee newsletter-expanding engagement, optimizing content, and ensuring timely distribution.
  • Partner with Human Resources, Total Rewards, Safety, Talent Development, Technology & Innovation, and other departments to develop and execute clear communication plans for programs, policy updates, and change initiatives.
  • Track, analyze, and report on communication effectiveness; recommend improvements grounded in data, employee feedback, and industry best practices.
  • Work closely with external-facing marketing team members to ensure aligned internal and external messaging.
