About The Position

The United States Studies Centre is a research centre dedicated to analysing American foreign policy, economics, politics, and culture, and helping Australians better understand developments in the United States and their impact on Australia. You will be working in a highly reputable organisation and with a team that is inclusive, supportive, and committed. We are currently looking for a motivated Internal Auditor to join our supportive and high-performing team. This is a casual position (one day per week) with the flexibility to choose your days.

Requirements

  • Is currently studying Accounting, Law, or a postgraduate degree
  • Has strong communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills
  • Can work independently with strong attention to detail
  • Is motivated and able to build positive working relationships
  • You must have unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this employment to be eligible to apply.
  • Your employment is conditional upon the successful completion of all pre-employment or background checks required for the role in terms satisfactory to the University.
  • you will be asked to declare if you have been investigated for, or found to engaged in, sexual harm or gender-based violence in the course of previous employment or in a legal process.
  • your ongoing employment is conditional upon the satisfactory maintenance of all relevant clearances and background check requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Has audit experience (Big 4) or compliance/risk experience — highly desirable

Responsibilities

  • Conducting financial, operational, and compliance audits
  • Reviewing internal controls and documenting findings
  • Providing recommendations and reports to management and the Audit & Risk Committee
  • Identifying risks and opportunities for improvement
  • Supporting special projects and ad-hoc tasks when required
