About The Position

The Internal Auditor - Physician Arrangements and Compensation Compliance is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing internal processes and controls to ensure that all compensation arrangements with non-employed physicians and other healthcare providers comply with applicable laws, regulations, and organizational policies. Reporting directly to the General Counsel, this position serves as a key liaison between Legal, Finance, and Operations to ensure that professional services arrangements are properly structured, documented, approved, and supported by appropriate time and service records or other substantiating documentation. The role combines elements of compliance, auditing, and process improvement to mitigate regulatory and financial risks associated with physician compensation and contracting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Health Administration, or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in healthcare compliance, internal audit, legal, or finance roles
  • Experience in physician contracting, healthcare regulatory compliance, or Stark/AKS oversight strongly preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of federal and state fraud and abuse laws (Stark, AKS, False Claims Act)
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze financial and operational data for compliance risk
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with physicians, executives, and cross-functional teams
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and contract management or audit software
  • Timeliness and completeness of physician contract reviews and audits.
  • Reduction in compliance deficiencies related to physician compensation.
  • Quality and accuracy of reports to leadership.
  • Collaboration and responsiveness to Legal, Finance, and Operations teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree, JD, or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC)
  • Familiarity with hospital operations and health system governance desirable
