About The Position

Steel Dynamics is a leading industrial metals solutions company that produces lower-carbon, high-quality steel products primarily from recycled scrap. Operating through a circular manufacturing model, the company manufactures a wide range of steel products including flat roll, structural, and long products for industries such as construction, automotive, energy, and manufacturing. In addition to steel production, Steel Dynamics operates metals recycling facilities, steel fabrication plants, and aluminum production operations, serving customers across North America with a focus on innovation, efficiency, and sustainability. At Steel Dynamics, internal audit internships stand out because interns are immersed in real projects that make a measurable impact on the business. Unlike many traditional accounting internships, our internal audit interns travel up to 40% of the summer to different SDI divisions, giving them exposure to operations across the company. This experience allows students to see accounting from both an operational and corporate perspective, building a well-rounded understanding of how financial systems support the business. Internal audit also serves as the foundation for developing SDI’s next generation of accounting leaders. Many of our accountants begin their careers in internal audit before progressing to roles such as accounting supervisor and eventually controller. With its strong career progression path and exposure to the full breadth of SDI operations, the internal audit internship provides a unique and valuable starting point for students interested in accounting and finance. This internship is located at the Steel Dynamics Corporate Office located in Fort Wayne, IN. This internship will take place in Summer 2026 (40 hours per week), and continue through the school year (flexible hours).
