About The Position

A leader in technology and innovation, Southwire Company, LLC is one of North America’s largest wire and cable producers. Southwire and its subsidiaries manufacture building wire and cable, utility products, metal-clad cable, portable and electronic cord products, OEM wire products and engineered products. The purpose of Southwire’s College Programs is to provide valuable experience to students pursuing a bachelor’s degree or higher. Our goal is to give students meaningful work that builds on what they are learning in the classroom. Our programs are project based. Students will receive a project at the beginning of the summer and present it in our project expo at the end of the summer. Requirements

  • Ability to work at least 40 hours per week.
  • Studying towards a Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, Internal Audit, Information Systems, or related field of study.
  • Minimum 2.5 GPA.
  • Must be comfortable multi-tasking.
  • Must be highly organized.
  • Must have strong interpersonal abilities and be tactful, mature and flexible.
  • Must have good auditory, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have a high degree of personal integrity, discretion, attention to detail and strong investigative skills.
  • Must be able to display initiative and accept responsibility for assigned tasks under minimal supervision.
  • Must have a problem-solving mindset and eager to learn.
  • Ability to proactively identify problems and propose effective solutions.
  • Ability to work and complete projects within a team environment.
  • Ability to follow directions and to raise their hand if assistance is needed.
  • Working knowledge of Word, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint and Outlook is a must.

Responsibilities

  • Your intern assignment is generally 10-12 weeks, and co-op assignment is generally 16-18 weeks and will include an assigned project and opportunities to present your work.
  • Collaborate on other exciting projects and work with talented peers and inspirational leaders.
  • Provide a robust developmental experience through an immersive onboarding and offboarding experience, assigned a mentor, networking opportunities, organized events, activities, and community service/volunteer initiatives.
  • Impact the future of the organization while being exposed to a world-class program community.
  • Rising senior interns and co-ops are considered for full-time employment opportunities.
  • Assist in the identification and analysis of potential risks, evaluating the effectiveness of internal controls, and proposing actionable solutions to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Utilize educational background, organizational skills and communication skills in helping execute Internal Audit projects.
  • Gather, organize and analyze data, drawing conclusions and documenting procedures performed and observations.
  • Communicate verbally and in writing to various levels of internal and external personnel.
  • Provide status of assigned projects to ensure completion within scheduled timeframes.
  • Assist with departmental administrative reporting as required.
  • Perform fieldwork assistance for auditors.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
