About the position

The Department of Health and Human Services' Operations Division is seeking a candidate with great analytical skills, leadership, and attention to detail for a Internal Audit Administrator position. A successful candidate, under administrative direction, will be responsible for the administration, direction and organization of a Unit located within the Department of Health and Human Services which represents a major part of the agency’s total operations and consists of complex, multifunctional programs with a statewide impact. Responsibilities

  • Develop, coordinate, conduct and review ongoing internal audits that test for compliance with federal and state laws and regulations as well as compliance with the agency's internal control policies.
  • Supervise and evaluate the work of internal audit staff.
  • Respond to inquiries and provide documentation for audits, attestations and reviews conducted each year by State officials, the Legislature and the Federal Government.
  • Monitor the agency's compliance with corrective action plans resulting from audit findings.
  • Review the agency's internal controls for best business practices and coordinate with Legal Services to ensure compliance with federal and state laws and regulations.
  • Conduct training programs focused on best business practices, internal controls and compliance with federal and state laws and regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in public administration, social work, human development, public health, behavioral science, law, finance, human resources or other program related field AND two years of experience in a field related to the assigned program area including supervisory experience.
  • OR a Master’s degree in any of the above mentioned fields.
  • Experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year for-year basis.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) strongly preferred.
  • Five years’ experience with forensic accounting.
  • Master’s degree in business administration.
