About The Position

Do you have an interest in valuing, acquiring, managing, and reporting on a large and dynamic portfolio of fixed income assets? Do you thrive in a complex, fast-paced, analytical-oriented environment? The Mortgage Acquisition Summer Internship Program offers qualified students the opportunity to integrate academic learning with hands-on, practical experience in a fast-paced acquisition and management environment. Key focal areas during the program will be supporting the business efforts to acquire whole loans, mortgage-backed securities and mortgage servicing rights in the secondary market, as well as supporting transaction management, data analytics, forecasting, and financial reporting on the Division’s business performance. After orientation, the first five weeks of the program are rotational, with interns spending time across five functional areas of the Mortgage Acquisition team: Valuation, Research, Model Development, Financial Planning & Analysis, Transaction Management. During the last four weeks of the program, interns will be doing development-oriented individual and group project work. Summer interns will work closely with senior decision-makers, and will gain insight into advanced business decision processes. This program offers an accelerated path towards full-time employment for select hard-working individuals who are passionate about learning and are motivated by positive impact on the team’s strategy execution.

Requirements

  • The ideal candidate is a highly-motivated learner with a proven track record of success, who thrives in challenging, fast-paced and occasionally high-stress environments.
  • The candidate must have strong quantitative abilities and must possess excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • The candidate must be a team-oriented self-starter who can work independently or contribute selflessly to a team effort.
  • The candidate is familiar with general accounting and finance concepts.
  • The candidate must have strong verbal and written communication skills and must demonstrate ability to articulate complex concepts in a clear and succinct manner.
  • Candidates must have completed their Junior year in college by the beginning of the internship or be enrolled in a relevant graduate program.
  • The position requires a 3.5 minimum GPA with an undergraduate major or graduate program in Finance, Accounting, Mathematics, or Economics.

Nice To Haves

  • Candidates with an additional major or minor in Risk Management, Statistics, Data Analytics, Data Science, or MIS will be given stronger consideration.
