The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo offer internships to students currently enrolled at: Texas A&M University Texas Tech University Alvin Community College University of Houston Depending on the specific hiring area and the interns skills set, job duties may include: Writing stories for the shows daily commercial exhibitors newsletter, writing news releases for the livestock competitions, and the Houston Livestock Show website. Working in special-event public relations and education. Work in large-scale public animal exhibits and educational displays that include tours for school children. Handle daily animal care and feeding, answer questions about the animals from the public, and supervise animals at rodeo for disabled children. Work with livestock check in and departures, help in the show ring for livestock events, and handle clerical duties involved with the livestock shows functions. Serve as special event administrative assistant's in Show's offices. All interns may have additional duties as assigned in their areas.
